my story
This is my story- a story of redemption made possible only through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He has brought me from darkness to light. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
I have been around Christianity my whole life, as I grew up in a Christian home and have always attended church and a Christian private school. However, I was not captivated by the gospel until my eighth grade year of school. At Winshape, a Christian summer camp, I was cared for by counselors who loved the Lord with all their heart and daily lived out what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I saw that the satisfaction I was looking for in my grades, relationships and successes could only be found in Jesus Christ. He alone could provide freedom from sin and fill all the deepest longings of my heart; the only one who can satisfy the human heart is the one who made it. The Lord regenerated my heart and opened my eyes to the beauty of the gospel, and this changed everything.
My life’s purpose was no longer tied to how I could perform, or who I knew, or what other people said about me, but it was solely tied to the finished work of Jesus Christ. My purpose now was to know him and make him known, and to this I have given my life. There is truly no pursuit more worthy than this.
As I am reminded daily though, the Christian life is not easy. I have walked with him through some very dark seasons, as I have wrestled with the deaths of family and friends, depression, doubt, anxiety, betrayal, hurt, and loneliness. However it is in these deep valleys that I have experienced his nearness like never before. As I reflect on these dark moments, I see the light of the faithfulness of God that has been displayed through the community of believers that I have found. We were not made to walk alone. It is such a gift to be able to carry one another’s burdens and weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. As I have learned, this kingdom minded community is essential for life as a thriving believer.
In this current season, I am pursuing biblical community through the local church. I became a covenant member in January of 2023, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to sit under sound preaching of the Word every week and serve alongside my fellow brothers and sisters.I am excited to continue to grow daily in my walk with Christ and be faithful where He has placed me.
I hope that you find encouragement in these words today and take time to reflect on your own story. Stories have power, and I pray that by sharing my story, you are all the more emboldened to share yours.
With love and prayers,
Addie Rose
